About the development of the Toolkit

This website was developed over one year, using the following procedure:

  1. Consultation with over 100 frontline workers across Scotland to determine their needs (focus groups and on-line survey).

  2. Review of currently available websites/leaflets/books on mental health issues.

  3. Writers’ group meetings to determine style of material based on consultation findings.

  4. Questionnaire sent to specialist workers to access helpful information and advice.

  5. Collation and review of gathered information.

  6. Writing of draft sections by various different specialist workers.

  7. Editing of sections to ensure consistency of style and accuracy.

  8. Design of website function and style.

  9. Planning, filming and editing video materials.

  10. Compiling the website.

  11. Pilot of draft website with 16 frontline workers.

  12. Re-writing and design changes to respond to workers’ comments.

  13. Circulated to specialists to check safety of written materials.

  14. Final editing.

  15. Toolkit Launch - 6 June 2007.

  16. Design and carry out post-launch evaluation study.

  17. Ongoing development in response to post-launch evaluation.
